Mask-wearing has completely changed our makeup routines, hasn’t it? We’re now considering smudge-proof lipsticks and setting powders, while foundations have taken a backseat too, which might be the best time to consider minimalist makeup. This simple, fuss-free and pared-back style, relying just on essentials instead of piling on the layers, is something that new-to-Singapore makeup brand, Espressoh, seems to do very well.
The Italian brand prides themselves on “high-performance back-to-basics” makeup with a bold Italian flair, quite like the idea of an espresso shot. Crafted in Italy, their coffee-infused lipsticks, mascaras, and concealers all contain a dose of caffeine as well, which helps for brighter, smoother skin. Here are the four items available at their debut launch on Sephora.sg — including a highly raved-about transparent blush.
GLASSY — Blush By The Glass, $40
So, it looks like we might be suckers for transparent makeup, but the idea of a transparent highlighting blush is indeed intriguing. As with clear lipsticks and foundations, GLASSY relies on a formula that reacts with the pH of your skin, transforming the transparent gel into a dewy blushing tint. This one gives a sheer and natural flush, which ties in well with the brand’s minimalist approach since the texture of your skin still shines through. GLASSY is also buildable, so the more you layer over your cheeks, the more intense the blush effect, while you can consider this a universally-flattering shade since it’s so highly personalised.
The ABC Concealer, $40
Another popular product from the brand would be their ABC Concealer, made with an extra light texture so the pigments are able to blend right into your skin for natural-looking coverage, while hiding imperfections and dark circles. In true minimalist makeup style, we can even use just the concealer on its own, wherever is needed, in order to skip heavy-duty foundation. Interestingly, this one’s available in two complexion-adapting shades: one fits light to medium skin tones, and the other fits a range of darker skin tones — a shade guide is available on their website. Skincare benefits include a dose of caffeine for brighter-looking eyes as well.
Mascara Intenso, $38
A mascara that lengthens, curls, and gives volume to lashes right from the roots, this one’s a fuss-free formula where extra black pigments are blended together with caffeine, as well as natural-origin jellifying agents for a soft and creamy texture that builds on intensity one layer at a time. A trio of carnauba wax, rice wax and beeswax is also included to create volume, and natural-looking drama, if that can be a thing.
Aroma Lipstick, $33
Coffee on your lips? Up that yummy flavour with their Aroma Lipstick, which gives us rich, intense colour alongside a hint of lingering coffee flavour. The creamy and comfortable formula consists of Coffee Arabica seed oil, in order to maintain well-nourished and moisturised lips, and is meant to stay on a long as possible, no matter how many cups of coffee we sip on.
