The Minions are back in town, and can be found all over this high tea set by renowned pastry chef Janice Wong, best known for her painterly chocolates and edible crayons. Ever one for creativity, Wong has leveled up the themed high tea experience by reimagining the beloved Despicable Me characters as macarons, mooncakes and buns, as well as a Minion-shaped banana passionfruit cake we can’t wait to sink our teeth into, as, well, Gru-some as that sounds.
The exclusive high tea set will be available for dine-in only, at 2am: dessertbar, from 22 June to 31 July. It will run for six weeks, every Tuesday to Sunday, from 3.00pm to 6.00pm.
This also marks the third collaboration between Janice Wong and Illumination and Universal Brand Development, where we’ve previously seen Minion Surprise Eggs and Minion Mooncakes from the local confectionery brand. “We saw how much joy the previous Minions collaborations brought to customers of all ages, and couldn’t think of a better way or time to bring a bit of Minions magic back into their lives,” says Wong of the high tea concept.
Six months in the making, here’s the list of canapes available — Orange Blossom Macarons; Kevin’s Popcorn Caramel Bon Bon; Stuart’s Lemon Tart; Vanilla Custard Mochi; Banana White Bean Snow Skin Mooncakes; Gru’s Bao and Banana Passionfruit Cake. There’s even a new drink created just for the set, a blue Soda Vanilla Pop with a frothy top. Young ones — both kids and the young at heart — can also unleash their creativity with edible Passionfruit and Peppermint Chocolate Paint and Crayons.
