ION Art Gallery is currently hosting a photo exhibition organised by Breast Cancer Foundation (BCF) to raise awareness for breast cancer. It’s titled, “Ahead of Time”, and tells the stories of 25 breast cancer survivors photographed by 9 notable Singapore photographers. The subjects are featured alongside their children, accompanied by a narration of their survivor journey.
The message shared through the photos is that there is indeed life after breast cancer, and their stories aim to spark conversations amongst families to take charge of their breast health through early breast cancer detection.
The exhibition is open to the public, and visitors can view the pictures from now till 30th June. The 9 photographers include Aik Beng Chia, Charlie Lim, Lavender Chang, Lee Jen, Mark Law, Nicky Loh, Russel Wong, William Chua and Willy Foo.
As quoted by photographer, Aik Beng Chia, “I felt a great deal of responsibility to portray them as dignified people. And to make sure that through my photography, they’re presented as their true selves, as survivors who have been through the breast cancer journey.”
“Ahead of Time” photo exhibition is organised by the Breast Cancer Foundation and shows at the ION Art gallery, Level 4, from 16-30 June, 10am–9pm. more info at WWW.BCF.ORG.SG/AHEADOFTIME.
