“On the Wings of Hermès” is a poetic and cinematic performance that was created for the house by the Belgian duo of director Jaco Van Dormael, and choreographer Michèle Anne De Mey. Together with the Astragales dance company, “On the Wings of Hermès” is a magical performance blending dance, object theatre, music, and cinema.
After performances in Los Angeles, Hong Kong and Shanghai, the world tour of this original creation will land in Singapore from 19th to 28th July, 2024, at the Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre.
It starts with a dark space resembling a film studio, where the fable of Pegasus, the mythical winged horse, begins. Then the tale unfolds through seven performances, each with its own backdrop where Hermès objects come alive like graceful puppets.
A humorous opera is sung by a cast of Hermès “Kelly” bags; there’s a lyrical flight of interlacing gloves; and then a dance sequence depicting two entwined lovers carried away by the wind into a bright blue sky.
“This work metaphorically illustrates the lightness that is omnipresent at Hermès: in the delicate hands of our craftspeople sewing with two needles at once, in the elegance of materials and in the subtle notes of a perfume. It is an experience which sparks the imagination, designed by the artisans of dreams,” says Pierre-Alexis Dumas, Artistic Director of Hermès.
“on the wings of Hermès shows in Singapore from 19th to 28th July, 2024, at the Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre.
