Offering a unique touring concept dedicated to Dior’s iconic bag, the Lady Dior, the House of Dior invites you to the Lady Dior House at 5 Jiak Kim Street where you’ll get to experience the iconic bag through its many reinventions from now to 11 August.
The Lady Dior bag is a symbol of haute couture with its instantly recognisable structured lines, metal charms that pay homage to the founder of the House of Dior, and canework pattern inspired by the Napoleon III chairs that Christian Dior used to seat guests at his shows.
Since 2016, the House of Dior has given artists from all around the world the opportunity to revisit the Lady Dior bag and turn it into a work of art through the Dior Lady Art Project.
Each reinterpretation provides a challenge for the artist to exercise their creative freedom while utilising their remarkable skills to create imaginative pieces. More than 80 leading figures of the art scene have already taken part such as Ha Chong-Hyun, Mariko Mori, Jeffrey Gibson, Alex Gardner and Minjung Kim.
The Lady Dior House in Singapore will see 32 different pieces from creatives such as Daniel Arsham, Angélique, Alice Anderson Studio, Wonmin Park, James Shaw, Javier Toro Blum, Tia-Thuy Nguyen, Martin Parr and Yuriko Takahi, as well as unique pieces from Singapore artists Grace Tan, Genevieve Chua, and Samuel Xun.
Here’s a peek at what you can find at the exhibition.
