Apple unveils new iPhone 16, Apple Watch, AirPods and first-ever Apple Intelligence

In one of the most highly anticipated events of the year, Apple has revealed its latest line-up of new devices that will be hitting Apple Stores in Singapore later this month.

Among the devices that were announced, Apple is set to roll out its all-new personal intelligence system — the Apple Intelligence — starting next month alongside iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15 to deliver intelligence that will harness the power of Apple silicon to understand and create language and images, take action across apps, and draw from how you use your phone to simplify and accelerate everyday tasks.

These Apple Intelligence features will include Writing Tools to help you rewrite, proofread and summarise text; Photos to enable you to create movies the way you want to see it by using your description; a Clean Up tool to help you remove photo bombers in the background of your photo; and the ability to record, transcribe and summarise audio.

More features will roll out later in the year and in coming months.

APPLE iPHONE 16 PRO AND PRO MAX

Featuring larger display sizes, new creative capabilities and a new 48MP Fusion camera that enables 4K120 fps video recording in Dolby Vision, the new iPhone 16 Pro models are strong yet lightweight with the best iPhone battery yet.

With the thinnest borders of any Apple product, the iPhone 16 Pro models are available at 6.3-inch for the 16 Pro and 6.9-inch for the 16 Pro Max — the largest display for an iPhone ever. Both models are built with new mechanical architecture which improves heat dissipation and efficiency for up to 20% better sustained performance.

The new Pro models also introduces Camera Control to make the pro camera system more versatile so that you can quickly launch the camera feature. As part of this feature, a new camera preview will help make it easier for you to frame your shot and adjust other control options by simply sliding your finger.

Powered by A18 Pro, the two phones’ upgraded camera system will provide you with a new 48MP Fusion camera to film videos in Dolby Vision, offering the highest resolution and frame-rate combination ever on an iPhone. Coupled with the new image signal processor, you can even do a frame-by-frame cinema-quality colour grading for videos filmed in 4K120 fps.

The system adds a new 48MP Ultra Wide camera as well, for you to take higher-resolution photos and a powerful 5x Telephoto camera to catch the action from far away.

The iPhone 16 Pro (from S$1,599) and iPhone 16 Pro Max (from S$1,899) will be available in black titanium, natural titanium, white titanium, and desert titanium in 128GB, 256GB, 512GB and 1TB storage capabilities.
Both phones will be available for PRE-ORDER starting 13 September at 8pm and will be available in stores from 20 September.

APPLE IPHONE 16 AND 16 PLUS

Built to last, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus come with the latest-generation of Ceramic Shield with an advanced formulation that makes it 50% tougher than the first generation.

Both models have also been reengineered to allow for an even larger battery that better dissipates heat to make battery service easier and offer a big boost in battery life.

Available in 6.1-inch for the iPhone 16 and 6.7-inch for the iPhone 16 Plus, both devices will come with an Action button that allows you to easily access a variety of functions with by simply pressing the button. In doing so, you can quickly open features like the camera, flashlight or even recognise music with Shazam and activate Translate.

Similar to the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max, both the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus will come with the Camera Control feature as well as a 48MP Fusion Camera. However, unlike the Pro models, the camera offers a 2x optical-quality Telephoto option for you to get closer to your subject to frame a photo.

The devices also come with a new 12MP Ultra Wide Camera with autofocus which enables macro photography and gathers up to 2.6x more light for higher image quality.

The iPhone 16 (from S$1,299) and iPhone 16 Plus (from S$1,399) will be available in ultramarine, teal, pink, white and black in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage capabilities.
Both phones will be available for PRE-ORDER starting 13 September at 8pm and will be available in stores from 20 September.

APPLE WATCH SERIES 10

With a refined design and equipped with new capabilities, the Apple Watch Series 10 is dubbed the thinnest Apple Watch yet, offering you the biggest and most advanced display of any Apple Watch, with a first-ever wide-angle OLED display, as well as an all-day 18-hour battery life. 

The new S10 SiP and built-in 4-core Neural Engine allows for intelligent features such as a double-tap gesture, on-device Siri, automatic workout detection and important safety features like the Crash Detection and Fall Detection.

In addition to being thinner, the Apple Series Watch 10 is with aluminium cases that weigh up to 10% less than the Series 9 and titanium cases that weigh almost 20% lesser than the stainless steel Series 9. 

The larger display on the Series 10 offers up to 9% more active screen area than its predecessor which improves readability and usability. This also means that it is now easier to type a message, pause a workout, or enter a passcode.

Because it is built to be even more comfortable and convenient to wear during sleep, the Series 10 comes with an all-new feature to help identify signs of sleep apnea. To detect sleep apnea, the Apple Watch 10 uses the accelerometer to monitor small movements at the wrist that are associated with interruptions in normal respiratory patterns.

Featuring a new metal back, the Apple Watch Series 10 is now the fastest-charging Apple Watch ever with its larger and more efficient charging coil that provides up to 80% battery after you charge the watch for just 30 minutes!

The Apple Watch Series 10 (from S$599) is available in 42mm and 46mm sizes in the new jet black, rose gold and silver aluminium case as well as the new titanium in natural, gold and slate.
The watch is now available for PRE-ORDER and will be available in store starting 20 September.

AIRPODS 4

For the first-time ever, AirPods 4 will also be offering ANC with their open-ear design in an additional model that will use upgraded microphones, the power of the H2 chip, and an advanced computational audio to help reduce environmental noise like airplane engines and city traffic.

AirPods 4 with ANC will also introduce intelligent features like a Transparency mode to keep you aware of your environment; Adaptive Audio that will dynamically blend Transparency mode and ANC based on your environment; and Conversation Awareness that will lower your volume when you start speaking to someone nearby.

The AirPods 4 (S$199) and AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation (S$249) is available for PRE-ORDER from 9am on 11 September. Both models will be available in store starting 20 September.
