Apple introduces the new iPad mini built with the A17 Pro chip and AI features

Since the release of the last iPad mini in 2021, Apple has introduced the all-new iPad mini built with the A17 Pro chip, Apple Intelligence, and iPadOS 18, making it more capable and versatile than ever before.

In its beloved ultraportable design, the new iPad mini features an 8.3-inch Liquid Retina display and is available in four finishes, including a new blue and purple colour.

With the A17 Pro, the new iPad mini can now deliver a 30% boost in CPU performance as well as a 25% boost in graphics performance over its predecessor. The new chip also brings you entirely new experiences, making it faster to edit photos and easily use more immersive AR applications.

The new iPad mini also brings true-to-life gaming with hardware-accelerated ray tracing to create engaging content faster and better load demanding, graphics-intensive games.

Built with iPadOS 18, studying and journaling is made easier. Using Math Notes, you can now just type in mathematical expressions or write them out to see them instantly solved in handwriting like your own. You can also create and use variables or even add an equation to insert a graph.

In the Notes app, you will see handwritten notes become more fluid and easy to read with Smart Script, which edits handwritten texts, allowing you to easily add space or even paste typed text in your own handwriting.

Along with the incredibly portable form factor, the iPad mini comes built with great cameras which include a 12MP wide back camera and 12MP Ultra Wide front-facing camera. Using the powerful 16-core Neural Engine, the new iPad mini is able to use AI to automatically identify documents in the Camera app and use its new True Tone flash to remove shadows from the document.

In addition to all the improvements, the new iPad mini supports Wi-Fi 6E too, which delivers up to twice the performance than the previous generation, allowing you to download files, play games online, and stream movies or shows even faster.

Together with the iPad OS 18, you’ll get to enjoy the power of Apple AI features that will help you to understand and create language and images, take action across apps, and draw from personal context to simplify and improve everyday tasks.

These include:

      • Writing Tools where you can refine your words by rewriting, proofreading and summarising text nearly everywhere you write, including Mail, Notes, Pages, and even third-party apps
      • Communicating with Siri is now more natural and flexible as it uses richer language-understanding capabilities which makes its easy for Siri to maintain contexts for various requests, even when you stumble over your words
      • In Photos, you can now use the Memories feature to create movies that you want to see by simply typing in a description, and with the new Clean Up tool, you can now identify and remove distracting objects in the background of a photo
The new iPad mini is priced from S$699 and is available for pre-order HERE. The device will be available islandwide starting October 23.
