DINNER AT EDEN RESTAURANT
We were invited to experience the night for ourselves at Pullman Orchard Singapore’s Premier Room and also had the opportunity to dine at Eden Restaurant, who are well-known for their modern Asian flavours.
As the Christmas menu wasn’t available at the time of our stay, we tried their a-la-carte menu which included the Sticky Pork Belly Bao Bun with Salted Vegetables, Hokkien Mee Fettuccini, and the Nyoyna Dry Rub Chicken Breast with Buah Keluak Sauce.
We also ordered the Creamy Hainanese Mac & Cheese to share, which to our surprise was one of the hit dishes amongst us despite it being one of the common foolproof dishes.
Unlike traditional Mac & Cheese, this dish had a tinge of Asian flavour in its creamy cheesy sauce that we felt was reminiscent to the rice used in Chicken Rice. It also says a lot about the dish when one of us, who is a carb-hater, ends up polishing more than half the dish on her own.
Another dish that made it to the top of our list was the Nyonya Dry Rub Chicken Breast with Buah Keluak Sauce. While it may always feel like a gamble when chicken breast is the main focus of the dish — because it can come out dry and devoid of flavour — this particular dish knocked it out of the park with its tender meat that was marinated well.
When paired with the Buah Keluak sauce, it almost felt as if we were eating a version of the traditional Peranakan Ayam Buah Keluak which made the entire dish très sedap.
We ended the meal with the Onde Onde Sundae which was such a sweet delight.
While we would have preferred more brownie with the sundae, we liked that the coconut ice cream had a bit of texture in it with the coconut floss which gave the dessert more bite and a well-rounded taste.
