Poetic; like a memory, this season’s CHANEL Spring/Summer 2020 Collection welcomes a dreamier veil to its looks — uncovering a peripheral vision that’s less familiar, and yet unique to its kind. Drawing inspiration from the desert, the new collection captures the uncanny silence of the vast desert, which sees quieter hues of quartz, basalt and shale scattered across the desert. The addition of other unique characteristics, such as peach rose, cool browns and undercurrents of mauve, echo throughout as well, and are equally mesmerising.
After her trip to Namibia, Lucia Pica, global creative make-up and colour director for Chanel, was inspired by the landscape of the desert and vibed with hues of warm pinks, golden bronzes and chocolate browns. With a brown tonal colour that was present almost everywhere, Lucia translated the raw, natural beauty of the desert into the Desert Dream collection, and Chanel Beauty’s SS2020 vision.
ÉCLAT DU DÉSERT
Set to launch on 3 January, the Desert Dream collection sees more muted palettes that echo the quartzes, basalts and shales of the desert. Take, for instance, Chanel’s Éclat du Désert — a pink-beige highlighter that takes on the distinctive contours of the desert’s sand dunes.
BAUME ESSENTIEL
For a sun-kissed glow and a multi-dimensional finish, consider Chanel’s Baume Essentiel in Golden Light for a Bronzy Caramel touch.
LES 4 OMBRES
Introducing newer shades to many of the brand’s mainstay products, the Desert Dream collection also proves itself to be a versatile and wearable line that many makeup aficionados will love — especially where textures and shades are concerned.
To spice up your look this summer, reach out for the luxe beauty brand’s Les 4 Ombres — available in 2 different quads; Elemental (matte mauve beige, taupe browns and caramel hues) and Warm Memories (peachy rosebud, satiny brownish rosewood and soft corals) — to brighten your eyes or even layer it with the Ombre Premiére Laque for an iridescent sheen to your lids.
ROUGE ALLURE
Next up on the list: two lipsticks that echo the peachy, rose hues of the desert — Chanel’s coveted Rouge Allure lipstick in Rouge Brùlant, which comes as a vivid, orange-pink — and an ultra-matte number, Rouge Allure Velvet Extréme — otherwise known as a warm, rosewood tone that adds that extra finishing touch to your look.
LE VERNIS
Other new additions to the line include nail lacquers, Le Vernis, in muted mauve shades — Daydream and Mirage — two softer shades that balance out the heady heat of your entire ensemble.
CHANEL Desert Dream Spring/Summer 2020 Collection available at all CHANEL Fragrance and Beauty stores from 3 January 2020.
