Now that we’re spending most of our days at home — lest you’re out doing your grocery runs or other forms of running — it’s prime time to put in a little more effort when it comes to your self-care routine. We’re not just referring to the countless amount of sheet masks that you have stocked up at-home facials, in fact, we’re zooming into something that’s a little more appealing… your feet.
Enter foot peels. Just when you thought you didn’t need more reason to splurge on skincare, foot peels are the latest trends to rock the world of beauty — with many paying closer attention to taking greater care of their tippy toes.
For those with rough calluses and cracked heels, no thanks to the long hours we’ve put our feet through all those walking, foot peels seem like the perfect thing to try while you’re working from home. Just like your face, the other parts of your body require the same amount of love and attention it deserves — don’t you agree?
For some, you might be well acquainted with the baby foot peel trend that gained traction over the last few years for a multitude of reasons. One: because it’s so gross, and two: because it works wonders for the feet. For reference, we’ve included one of the videos you can find online of these foot peels and just a heads up, viewer discretion is advised.
Though it might not seem entirely appealing at first and using a mechanical exfoliator at home might seem like a less terrifying experience to deal with, the baby foot peel promises to slough off dead skin while making your feet as soft as, well, a baby’s.
As far as exfoliating treatments are concerned, this surprisingly odd treatment does actually work for anyone with dry, scaly heels or rough, callused feet.
First off, these foot peels usually start out with a plastic sheet that you soak your feet in with — allowing the liquid to set for an hour so before removing them. After doing so, follow through by rinsing your feet. And that’s it! After a few days, depending on the foot peels that you’re using, you’ll notice the dead skin on your feet starting to peel, only to reveal softer and smoother skin after. Just a word of advice, though it might be tempting to peel everything at once, it’s recommended that you don’t peel your dead skin by force.
The only setback about this treatment, however, is that you have to deal with your skin flaking off for the next week or so. Nonetheless, we recommend that you wear a pair of socks wherever you go, even if you’re walking to the fridge or hitting the sheets. Trust us, you wouldn’t want to be flaking around the whole house now, would you?
