Here's What's Happening This Weekend

FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND: ‘Last Chance To Dance’ The Final Tour

Funeral for a Friend

Three words – Final tour ever. Screamo fans will recognise this Welsh post-hardcore band from the 2000s, who are often credited with being pioneers of the modern UK rock scene. After 15 illustrious years following their well-received debut in 2001, the band is… finally breaking up – but not before one last tour.
There’s no need to even reiterate this – you’d be wise to snag tickets for the show, playing tomorrow at 8pm at *SCAPE, The Ground Theatre. Frontman Matthew Davies-Kreye calls it “the natural end”, but one that’s been fulfilling enough for the band to see this last tour as one big celebration. TGIF with FFAF, who will be showcasing, for the last time, the greatest hits of their career. And playing one night only in their only stop in Asia, it quite literally is your last chance to dance.

Date: 19 February 2016
Time: 8pm
Venue: *SCAPE, The Ground Theatre
Admission: $108 (Standard), $98 (Group Package – min. 3 tickets purchased)

‘B-Side and Rarities’ Pop-Up Studio by Jahan Loh
Palm Boy_2009_1   Palm Boy_2009

Get your art fart on this weekend, with homegrown contemporary artist Jahan Loh at his pop-up studio and solo art exhibition. Named after the “B-side”, or reverse side, of phonograph records, B-Side and Rarities was born from a “behind-the-scenes” concept inviting audiences into the rarely perceived artist’s mind. As such, visitors can look forward to physically navigating a replica of Loh’s actual workspace, complete with past works and personal beloved collectibles – to better understand the creative process and witness an artist at work. Look out for Loh’s signature pop-art touches, that can be found translated into fashion in the form of sneakers, apparel, and toys. And if you like what you see, chances are you’ll be able to pick up a copy of it at the pop-up store as well.

Date: 18 February to 2 March 2016
Venue: Ion Art Gallery

And for those of you who like a little food (and entertainment!) with your art, get the best of both worlds this Saturday and Sunday at Singapore’s first-ever Indoor Picnic. “Yum” doesn’t even begin to cover this intriguing experience – the space is a hall-turned-fantasy-garden of wonder, thanks to the multi-sensory art installation put up. Local theatre group ANDSOFORTH will be setting up clouds, sunshine, beautiful weather, and a lush green lawn, to present you the perfect outdoor picnicking experience – indoors. We can’t help but think of Hogwarts’s magical Great Hall – minus the floating candles and unpredictable weather conditions, of course. All you have to do to be a part is buy a ticket for The Picnic and receive a fully stocked picnic basket of treats. It’s the second last weekend of its run, so grab your tickets while you can! And while you’re there – look out for some very enthusiastic gnomes.
