Singapore is a country full of foodies and it was evident in the roaring success of the inaugural Taiwan Shilin Night Market which took place in April last year. Even with the relentless Singapore heat, the SG edition of the Night Market saw huge crowds and long queues over two weekends at their Grounds @ Kranji location.
The event had planned to return on the same date this year but due to the ongoing pandemic, the Shilin Singapore team had to regroup and evaluate their next best option, which eventually led to the conceptualisation of their first-ever Digital Shilin Singapore.
.
Digital Shilin Singapore is scheduled to happen this month over two weekends — 12 June to 14 June and 19 June to 21 June with a mix of homegrown and regional retailers, F&B brands and budding entertainment artistes who will come together virtually to bring you the same fun from last year on a new digital platform. You can expect to experience live streams of performances, online games and social shopping sessions where you can purchase and have the available food and products delivered straight to your doorstep.
Here’s a look at what you can expect at Digital Shilin Singapore.
FOOD
Much like the physical Shilin Night Market of last year, the F&B line-up this year will include local favourites, Taiwanese delights as well as trending foods you might have seen on your social feeds. These food items will be shown to you via a dedicated live stream for each vendor, giving you an opportunity to see what’s available to order.
These are the F&B vendors that have been revealed so far.
RETAIL
A little similar to some of those Facebook live streams of clothing being sold online, the online festival will feature elements of online shopping alongside real-time auction-style live streams that would allow you to buy exclusive souvenirs and handcrafted artisanal wares from respective vendors.
These are the retail brands that have been revealed so far.
.
To give you more ways to shop, Digital Shilin Singapore will also be partnering with Shopee to bring you a curated selection of homegrown brands where you can place your orders with using the Shopee website or Shopee app.
.
PERFORMANCES
Despite the lack of a physical location, the festival will still have a virtual form of the main stage where local television host Lee Teng will introduce performances from a line-up of local bands and singers which includes female duo The Freshman, Nat Wu, Marcus Lee, and Yokez.
