Our childhood favourites have been making comebacks on screen and even in apparel, so it’s only natural that new toys are being released as well. LEGO is bringing back the original animated stars — the world-famous couple, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse — in their latest set, recommended for grown-ups who are also young at heart.
While LEGO is no stranger to Disney sets, this brings old Disney cartoons back to life. In classic LEGO brick form, think back to the days of original Disney shorts, where Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse were (and probably still are) the most famous animated duo. With Mickey standing at 36cm and Minnie at 35cm, this Buildable Characters kit is a perfect piece to display in any Disney fan’s home. Bring these characters to life as you build your own story around them, complete with buildable accessories like a retro camera, adorable guitar and a photo album.
Creating the 1,739-piece set was no easy feat, as plenty of detail went into developing the perfect homage to the pair. LEGO designer Ollie Gregory focused on featuring the original, classic elements — On top of dressing them up in their classic outfits, the LEGO team also went with the iconic silhouette and colour palette we all know and love. “The Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse Buildable Characters are extremely detailed and intricate, and there were lots of challenges to overcome. For example, to create the tips of their noses we even had to bring back the LEGO Classic Space Helmet in black, which hasn’t been seen since 1987.”
This new addition to the LEGO® | DISNEY collection was designed specifically for adults, featuring a chic adult-focused packaging, hoping to give builders a creative outlet to take a break from their busy lives. The LEGO group aims to inspire builders of all ages to be inspired and get excited to continue to create, no matter how young or old.
LEGO® | DISNEY Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse Buildable Characters ($279.90) will be available from 1 July 2020 at LEGO Certified Stores in Singapore. Visit lego.com for more information.
