Shu Uemura’s artist collaboration collections are always worth getting excited about, and the brand has just announced the latest one for Spring. This just in: Korean fashion designer Kathleen Kye, who’s behind up-and-coming label KYE, has worked with the brand to put a Korean spin on Japanese makeup artistry for the KYE for shu collection.
If there’s anything to know about KYE, it’s that it’s the high street label favoured by all the cool kids in K-Pop. Many of her designs feature her trademark style of illustration, which add an edgy street style aesthetic and make her a perfect candidate for this latest artist collaboration; and on this range of products, you’ll spot 12 different Kye-drawn icons that represent an aspect of Korean culture. There’s the hibiscus, South Korea’s national flower, a coffee cup to represent Seoul’s obsession with coffee (it’s the city with the highest concentration of coffee shops in the world), and an alarm clock displaying 5.10am, the time of the first train of the Seoul metro.
Here’s a look at the collection, which will include 21 makeup products and 3 haircare ones this time round. We can feel our hearts beating extra fast already just by looking at the cheery doodle-covered packaging, and the point makeup that’s made to nail the K-Beauty look – bold brows, coloured liners, and neon lips. And for the first time ever for shu uemura, a cushion blusher. Keep calm, take a deep breath and hold on till April – this is launching exclusively at Sephora ION on 14 April, and will be available at other shu uemura stores from 1 May. It’ll be on shelves only till 31 May 2016, so you’ll have to hurry: these cute products will wait for no woman.
