Louis Vuitton has launched a bag in collaboration with prolific sculptor/artist Urs Fischer coined the ArtyCapucine BB Urs Fischer, that comes with six life-size sculptures of produce you can find in a supermarket aisle.
This limited-edition bag is part of an experimental art program by the luxury label, to transform its Taurillon Capucines BB bag as a canvas for six artists to rework with their imaginings. And this version by Urs Fischer will be the one we’ll focus on today for its particular peculiarity.
The ArtyCapucine BB Urs Fischer features the aforementioned Louis Vuitton bag in elegant white Taurillon Leather, and measures a sensible 27cm x 18cm x 9cm. Its top-handle is secured with two metal rings on the interior of the bag and comes with a detachable shoulder strap perfect for those who prefer double carry styles.
The ArtyCapcucine BB Urs Fischer opens via a top flap with a snap hook closure to unveil a cowhide leather-lined interior with a zipped pocket and fuss-free open-top compartment. Four metal feet at the base of the bag function to protect its sleek white Taurillon Leather body from getting dirty when placed on less than spotless surfaces.
The eye-widening detail of this bag, however, is the six accompanying accessories it comes with, featuring an assortment of fruits, vegetables, and produce. Hand-painted in the studio by Urs Fischer and his team, these fragile silicone sculptures are made to appear hyper-realistic and almost good enough to eat.
Showcase your favourite produce by adorning them on the bag via delicate gold-plated brass chains, attachable to the bottom or side of the bag in suspension. In a press statement addressing his design, Urs Fischer mentions still-life paintings by Michelangelo as inspiration and elaborates, that “fruits and vegetables are perfect, beautiful shapes of nature,” which was what he wanted to literally portray.
Priced at $12,400, with only 300 units produced globally, the ArtyCapucine BB Urs Fischer will definitely make a statement when carried anywhere on your daily commute. And who wouldn’t want a bag that reminds them to do their grocery shopping anyway?
Though, if your everyday includes navigating crowded areas about town, then it may not be best suited as your day-to-night companion. Instead, leave it at home where it can be best admired on a pedestal behind glass. You have to remember, that these accessories are actually fragile art sculptures that will shatter on impact, so do be careful when handling them.
