Yeah, well, to an extent, we can all do minimalist wear. Rock a t-shirt and jeans with attitude, or a floor-length maxi t-shirt dress, just not shorts and slippers at Orchard Road. The harder task though, is going “minimalist”, but still desiring to stand out, which is why we really admire Warehouse’s latest collection because it does exactly that, while making it totally fuss-free.
This time, they’re paired up with the winner of their talent search, Lowri Edwards. The competition is a result of Warehouse and the British Fashion Council’s Colleges Council inviting universities to nominate a stand-out graduate collection, after which they pick a winner who then receives a six-month stint with Warehouse’s in-house design and production teams.
Lowri, originally from South Wales, graduated from De Montfort University in 2015 with a 2:1 in Fashion Design (BA), and here we see the glorious fruits of her labour.
It’s a thoughtful collection that feels homely, with elements of comfort that remind us of duvets, quilts and pillowcases, seen mostly in the up-close details of the garments. At the same time, these are given a luxurious upgrade on dresses and premium patchwork shirts, all cut to perfection, while a gold leather skirt toughens the mostly neutral palette. Definitely not your run-of-the-mill minimalist outfits.
The Warehouse x British Fashion Council collection will be available exclusively in Warehouse ION Orchard store from 24 March 2016, priced from S$199 – S$599.
