Admit it, we Singaporeans are hardcore planners. So when it comes to holidays and vacations, we tend to book months in advance, with accompanying Excel sheet itineraries to boot — and look how well that worked out in 2020. That said, you’re probably in the midst of figuring out how to use the $100 “SingapoRediscovers” tourism vouchers the government will be giving out in December. Good news here, because UNIQLO and Klook are out to inspire.
In a bid to get us to joyfully explore our own backyard, the global retailer has partnered with travel booking platform Klook for an exciting campaign that brings together the best local gems our city-island has to offer.
The “Explore a Life Unordinary” campaign sees UNIQLO’s LifeWear apparel featuring among a backdrop of Klook’s curated list of unique local experiences — from pottery workshops at Singapore’s oldest surviving dragon kiln, gin distillery tours at the homegrown Brass Lion Distillery, to zipping through heritage sites on a quirky Vespa Sidecar. You can access these curated itineraries via QR codes found on Klook vouchers and on posters across all UNIQLO stores.
From 20 November to 3 December 2020, UNIQLO will also be giving away a 3-in-1 Singapoliday Pack, consisting of 1) $10 Klook voucher, 2) UNIQLO Resistance Band and 3) Pack of 3 white AIRism masks, while stocks last. This pack will be distributed online and across 24 physical UNIQLO stores islandwide (excluding Changi Terminal 1), with a minimum spend of $100 per receipt.
Here are some of the tours you can book:
Vespa Sidecar Heritage Tour
Kampong Glam, Joo Chiat, or Tiong Bahru? Take your pick from these diverse cultural districts, and hop on the cutest Vespa while you’re at it. Your friendly driver guide will also be able to share entertaining stories about each location. To travel even more in style, go for lightweight fabrics and breezy silhouettes — the Men’s Open Collar Short Sleeve Shirt is a trendy, loose-fitting cut, while you can also do light layers by pairing a Linen Blend Open Collar Shirt with a long cotton dress.

Edible Farm Tour
Those who like going off the beaten track and into nature would appreciate this educational farm tour, which would be fun with kids in tow. All of you will get to learn about nature and growing plants (to science!) at a green space that’s far away from the city, while you even get to take home a DIY planting kit. With that in mind, dressing for comfort is key, which is why the options of the Women’s High Rise Skinny Ankle Jeans and Men’s Ultra Stretch Skinny Fit Colour Jeans make absolute sense. Both ensure the most flattering fit, while the guy’s style even has an elastic drawstring for a snug fit and easy movement.

Dragon Kiln Pottery Workshop
The artsy — and patient — folks would probably appreciate the serenity of a pottery workshop, where you’re able to wield your creativity at one of Singapore’s oldest surviving brick-built kilns. As you learn more about the 53-year-old pottery factory and its ceramics, as well as browse through their catalog of traditional Peranakan porcelain wares, dress up in the earthy tones of the Extra Fine Cotton Broadcloth Shirt, or look as infinitely classy as a potter in this Georgette Frilled Long Sleeve Blouse.

Brass Lion Gin Distillery Tour
Quite the perfect date activity, a tour at Brass Lion Distillery will get you a sweet behind-the-scenes look at how gins are made, as well as an in-depth look at the distilling process via Nala, the copper still handcrafted by master coppersmiths in Germany. Once you’re done, you’ll even be treated to a tasting flight of three gins in the Tasting Room, and try your hand at making one of Singapore’s most iconic cocktails, the Singapore Sling. To keep sleek and modern, UNIQLO’s Women’s Stretch Cotton Turtleneck T-Shirt is a classic option, while the men can go for a touch of flannel for a casual “overseas” vibe.

Dining at Sushi Airways
Rather than a flight to nowhere, hop on board Sushi Airways, a fun little Japanese restaurant and bar that serves up quality Japanese meals in the cutest setting that’s made to look like you’re on a plane. Every detail from aircraft gallery meal carts, overhead compartments, metal interiors and lightings, to those iconic aircraft windows, will give you the feel like you’re about to embark on a vacation. What then to wear? We suggest not snuggling up in sweats like you would on a plane, but going for casual comfort; here, a simple t-shirt shines, and can be dressed up or down depending on how fancy the occasion is. The Men’s Uniqlo U tee also features the brand’s AIRism technology for added comfort.

Stay at Hotel Mono
Staycations are no doubt gaining in popularity during this time, so to those craving for a getaway from home, start with the chic interiors of Hotel Mono. Located right at the heart of the city so you get to walk to all your favourite hangouts, and yet far away enough from the CBD buzz to feel like you’re on a luxurious retreat, a stay at the Deluxe or Loft rooms would mean both a good night’s rest and an Insta-worthy staycation among the hotel’s stylish monochrome interiors. Of course, you’d want to pack up some comfy sweats to curl up to, so UNIQLO’s line of Pile Lined Sweat Hoodies and Sweat Pants are perfect, boasting a relaxed and slouchy cut, and the softest fabric.
