The Great Egg-Venture at Sentosa HarbourFront 2016

Kicking off this Easter holiday is… an Easter egg hunt of course! And not just any old egg hunt – The Great Egg-Venture calls itself Singapore’s Greatest Egg Hunt; and with over $50,000 worth of prizes to be won, we definitely concede. This year’s egg expedition will feature 60 hand-painted eggs themed “A New Beginning”, lovingly crafted by artists from the Affordable Art Fair, as well as youths from primary schools and other institutions – to share their visions for Singapore in the next 50 years. Being part of the fun is incredibly easy – simply hunt for the 60 giant eggs around Sentosa HarbourFront, snap a selfie, and save it in the Egg Basket, and you’ll be in the running for attractive prizes – the more eggs you find, the more prizes you stand to win.
In addition, there are a ton of Easter-related activities for the whole family to indulge in, including an Easter Carnival (25 & 27 March), Easter Cookie Decorating Workshop (26 March), and a classic Easter Egg Painting Workshop (25 March). We guarantee you’ll never want to see another egg again after this eggstravaganza.

Tanjong Pagar Railway Station’s 90s Art Market

If you’d rather not be surrounded by eggs this weekend, immerse yourself in a nostalgic throwback to the ‘90s instead. In collaboration with Singapore Land Authority, The Local People are organising a ‘90s-themed art market at everyone’s favourite Tanjong Pagar Railway Station. Expect indoor movie screenings made all the more *atmospheric* with high ceilings and stained glass windows, digital art installations around the station platform, and covers of popular ‘90s hits by local musicians – and some unique craft shopping, of course. They’ve even adopted a charity, Food From The Heart, and will be accepting food donations like rice, cooking oil, biscuits, milo/ovaltine/Horlicks, and canned products, so drop by to play a part!

OH! Potong Pasir

Here’s another event for the #supportlocal junkies (we say this with all the love in our hearts, of course). This two-hour art walkabout into private homes and restricted spaces explores the best of Potong Pasir, a neighbourhood rich with political significance from once being Singapore’s longest held opposition ward. You’ll be privy to 12 exclusive site-specific installations, taking you from the HDBs to a black-and-white colonial, to Bidadari, the former cemetery. On top of the art walk, stay in the area to check out OH!pen Call – seven (free) art and community projects in the void decks, sidewalks, and public gardens of Potong Pasir – intended to tell the stories of the community through the neighbourhood’s beloved shared spaces.

ILLUMI-NATION: A Photo Exhibition

NTU kids show some pride! In collaboration with the Singapore Kindness Movement, ILLUMI-NATION is a heartwarming photo exhibition by Strangers of the Night, a campaign by four students from the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information to champion and applaud those who work the often-underappreciated night shift here in Singapore. There’s the trusty taxi uncle standing by to go on-call and pick you up in the dead of night; even the yellow-shirted auntie busing tables at Swee Choon you didn’t give a second thought to when you embarked on your post-Zouk munchies binge. In documenting the stories of 20 workers, ILLUMI-NATION is the visual culmination of their yearlong project to thank the people who toil from dusk to dawn, and keep our nation illuminated 24/7.
