Singapore HeritageFest 2016
The Singapore HeritageFest is back! And more nostalgic than ever, or so we’ve heard. This year, it’s all about sharing in the hidden, little-known stories about our shared spaces and ways of life. Look forward to trails, open houses, and performances that celebrate the stories of Singapore’s diverse communities, because a vibrant cultural heritage is always something worth celebrating. More specifically, the Singaporean foodie in you can enjoy a gastronomic stroll down memory lane and relives the 1960s street food culture at the National Museum, where food stalls used to line the grounds hawking local favourites like rojak and wanton mee. (Come dressed in 1960s vintage wear and you’ll even get a free drink with purchase of two drinks at the Joo Gwee drink stall!)
There’re also exciting workshops like Ondeh Ondeh-making, but if food isn’t your thing (are you even truly Singaporean then), you can still be a part of the festivities with the lineup of film screenings, musical and theatre performances, and guided cultural tours. It’s three weekends of hearty, patriotic fun and frankly, we couldn’t be more excited.
