What’s a weekend without indulging carelessly in food? SAVOUR Gourmet, Singapore’s very own homegrown gourmet food festival is back – with enough eats to send you rolling home cradling your multiple food babies. Bringing together diversified food from all over the world, the festival grounds will be divided neatly into the Gourmet Market (fresh produce à la farmer’s markets) and the Gourmet Village – an al fresco playground of restaurants, celebrity chefs, and live music; not to mention 40 unique dishes going at $6 and $12 a plate. Not pricey at all, considering admission is free, and it’s gourmet food you’re savouring.
A highlight of the festival is definitely the DBS Live Your Dream competition; it’s a fight to the finish between homegrown chefs who will represent their various well-known restaurants for a shot at winning Best Dish. Best part? Every vote counts so you basically decide who wins – based on what you decided to spend your money on, that is.
Date: 12 May to 15 May 2016
Time: 6pm
Venue: Bayfront Avenue, next to Marina Bay Sands Exhibition Centre
Admission: Free (to $30)

ANDSOFORTH & Singapore Writers Festival present: If We Dream Too Long
Coffeeshop Photo WITH TEXT

In the spirit of celebrating everything local (with the Singapore HeritageFest ending this weekend), the gastronomic storytellers from ANDSOFORTH have teamed up with the Singapore Writers Festival to present an immersive, interactive dinner theatre experience – adapting the characters and storyline of Goh Poh Seng’s novel If We Dream Too Long to do so. Set in 1960s Singapore, journey through Kwang Meng’s multi-dimensional story through a series of ‘rooms’, while enjoying a 4-course Singapore 60s feast, of course. We’ve been fans of this experimental theatre group’s productions for some time now; definitely check them out if you want a taste (literally!) of London-influenced underground dining sub-culture.
Date: 13, 14, 15, 20, 21, 22, 28 & 29 May 2016
Admission: $88 per person

While it’s a little late for you to join in on the competitive festivities, you can still head down to be a part of the tasting fun. Look forward to British Golden Ale, Australian Sparkling Ale, English IPA and more, sponsored and donated specially for the event. Every token purchased for the tasting sessions goes to charity, so down away, folks.
