Honey Butter Chicken & More at Chir Chir Fusion Chicken Factory

Whether you’re a die-hard K-pop/drama fan or not, you might know about the whole Honey Butter craze that has been sweeping over South Korea for a while now — it kinda started from packets of Calbee chips, usually sold out or ridiculously expensive online we’re told, which then went on to adorn ice-cream, fries, nuts, even hand creams and lip masks from the beauty side of things. Think of it like the Korean version of our salted egg yolk everything.
So yep, it was kinda a big deal when we heard that Chir Chir Fusion Chicken Factory, or Chir Chir for short, are serving their delicious, easy-to-eat stacked chicken tenders, Honey Butter style. Crispy, juicy, sweet and savoury all at once.

Granted, it’s kind of a weird flavour to get used to if you’re not a sweet tooth, but no doubt, it’s addictive. The Honey Butter Chicken dish ($28.90) is served hefty on a wooden board, great for tucking in with your friends. We’ve got crispy battered chicken, potato wedges and pan-fried topokki glazed in their generous signature honey butter sauce, with plenty of honey butter seasoning, dried cranberries and sliced almonds to top it off. You’ve also got a choice of dunking the meat in a honeyed garlic mayo dip — they really went all the way with this one. The fried rice cakes were great to nibble on, but nothing beat the chicken of course, all tender and fragrant and fresh. 100% would go back to eat this again.
Another thing you could order, that’s really from the existing menu, is the Rosemary Chicken ($29.90). The restaurant kinda prides itself on the “fusion” side of things, though with all the authentic flavours, and this borrows from the more Western idea of oven roasts, while the chicken has been put through 12 hours of marinating, which translates to a fragrant, herbal surprise on the palate. The catch is there’s a side of salt-baked egg and baked potato here.

Then there are the relatively new side dishes too. The Topokki & Cheese ($9.90) is a hearty starter that really can’t go wrong, not when you have these chewy Korean rice cakes sitting in a sea of creamy cheeses, garnished with chicken ham and crunchy bacon bits. The two spicy additions make for a more varied experience too, compared to just hitting up a KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) outlet. There’s the Spicy Topokki ($15.90), filled with rice cakes, fishcake, sweet potatoes, crispy Cajun fried squid, and a deep-fried egg in gochujang (red pepper paste) sauce, while you can add on breaded chicken tenders at $4 to make it more substantial. Then, the Spicy Seafood Soup ($26.90)is a rich clam-based broth that’s loaded with glass noodles, mussels, prawns, crayfish and a whole squid. Obviously, share all these if you’re already springing for the chicken.
Chir Chir - Raspberry Double Smoothie            Chir Chir - Mojito Double Smoothie            Chir Chir - Aqua Double Smoothie

Finally, wash it all down with these supersize smoothies — either a Raspberry, Aqua or Mojito Double Smoothie ($12.90 each). Each one of them is refreshing, especially since there’s mango purée, which is thoughtfully dressed up with flavoured ice slushes including mixed tropical fruits for Aqua, and lime for Mojito. There’s also the option of adding Soju shots to make it a tad more exciting.
