What’s green, a tad obnoxious, and makes an epic addition to stomp-y footwear? Why, a Dr. Martens collaboration with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, of course. Love or hate them, there’s no denying you definitely caught these Saturday morning cartoon staples at least once in your younger years; and here they’ve stuck. Available only in Kids’ sizes, the collection pays tribute to the childhood classic with four original boots designed to represent the personality of the individual brothers – Leonardo, Michaelangelo, Donatello and Raphael.
It’s probably the wackiest we’ve seen from Doc Marts this year, given the reflective top bindings and colour-coded laces that perfectly match each character’s colour scheme. There’re even eyes! We particularly like Raphael’s (read: red bandana-ed turtle) glow-in-the-dark ooze at the top of the quarter, which definitely seems apt for our sewer-dwelling superheroes. And of course, perfect timing in conjunction with the release of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, which opened in cinemas last Thursday.
We’re guessing working adults might have… qualms about rocking these bad boys in public (a damn shame, though), so sizes for the collab only run from UK11 to UK3. Still, no harm picking up a pair for your little one, niece, nephew, or any tot you know in need of cool, kooky shoes – to kit them out in some badass new footwear; or for you to live vicariously through them. Cowabunga, my friend.
