Get Your Life In Check With These Apps

Life in Singapore is definitely hard – in terms of #firstworldproblems, anyway. It’s almost impossible to avoid feeling stressed out and wishing we could all have our own Personal Assistant to make sure we don’t lose our heads within the next hour. Only then our assistants would probably need their own PAs…and those PAs would need PAs…and so on. But hey, your trusted sidekick might already be closer than you think: in your devices. We rounded up 5 apps we think will help you through your week, from scheduling to finance to food.

Momentum

With great Internet browsing comes great responsibility…and getting sidetracked happens. We all start out with good intentions – maybe you wanted to finally start working on your essay early, for once. Maybe you wanted to Google why your throat has been feeling so ticklish for the past five days (you’re not dying, don’t worry). But sooner or later we all find ourselves with a thousand tabs open at 1AM, and it’s not pretty. Momentum helps you stay on track each time you open up a new tab, including a To-Do list function and a “main focus” which you can update as often as you like. It also helps your browser stay gorgeous with a new background featured everyday, as well as a daily quote which can help keep you motivated.

Class Timetable

Students, this one’s for you. If you’re one of those lucky ducks who has permission to use your phones on campus – out of class, of course – then take it from me, this app is a true lifesaver. While most schools may stick to hardcopy handouts, disaster tends to strike: you forget to bring it, it’s so crumpled by the end of April that part of it is illegible, you lose it altogether, etc. Class Timetable lets you colour code your classes and even lets you choose how many weeks your timetable operates on (e.g. different subject blocks for each alternate week).

Monny

When finance gets tough, the tough get…cute? Monny helps you track your spendings on a super-adorable, user-friendly interface, making number crunching a whole lot more enjoyable. The app also helps you generate a report on how much you’ve spent/saved within a month so you can monitor your own expenses. Or, you know, just cry over that money you blew on that jacket last week. Speaking of which, Monny even has budget challenges for you to help curb your shopaholic tendencies.

Seven

The concept of High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) might sound pretty intimidating to most people at first, but if all you want is to just move a little more everyday, Seven is actually surprisingly do-able. A full circuit only takes about 10 minutes or so, and if you’re feeling up to the challenge, you can also unlock different workouts if you’re able to use the app every day, for a certain number of days. Plus, the app includes an auto-instructor, so you’ll always know which exercise is coming next without having to rush for your phone, and there’s even a demo function in case you feel a little lost.

MUJI To Relax

Easily the most aesthetically-pleasing app on this list, the MUJI To Relax app is also easy on the ears. The app features a collection of atmospheric sounds, from birds chirping in a quiet forest to the soft crackling of a campfire, which are designed to help you relax and/or fall asleep to. You can also set a timer for the sounds so that you don’t have to end up needing to squint at your screens to turn the app off, effectively waking yourself up again. Zzzzz…
