This whole nude trend really doesn’t look like it’s going anywhere, huh? After digging through the treasure trove that was our press kit from the Sephora Fall Press Day, we came to this certain conclusion: nudes, in particular on the lips, are about to get an even bigger moment in the months to come, if all these launches from the various brands are anything to go by. We’ll happily stock up on our twentieth nude-toned liquid lipstick, then.
NUDESTIX Intense Matte Colour Lip + Cheek Pencil
So the difference between these and the existing NUDESTIX Lip + Cheek Pencils, which are already great by the way, is that the finish is now matte where it was previously more creamy. You’ll also notice that these come in a crayon form (as compared to a pencil), which makes sense for a more intense colour payoff. And coming from a brand like NUDESTIX, of course the eight shades cover mostly peach and pink-toned nudes, with a red and berry thrown in too.
$37, available from 15 Sep.
Stila Stay All Day MATTE’ificent Lipstick
We believe in Stila’s Stay All Day line with a passion – that’s where that cult liquid eyeliner and that intensely matte liquid lipstick that seriously doesn’t budge come from, after all. Now they’ve added a matte line to their Stay All Day lipstick, and among the 12 shades we’re already eyeing the nudes like Palais, a toffee nude, Bonbon, a terracotta nude, and Coquille, the all-essential taupe nude.
$35, available from 15 Sep.
Tarte Naughty Nudes Collection
Tarte has gone one step further and dedicated pretty much their entire Fall collection to nudes, and they’ve called it “Naughty Nudes”, because these sure aren’t boring colours. The four shades of the Amazonian Clay 12-hour Blush cover nude-toned pinks and peaches in addition to the original Exposed, and there’s also now a Amazonian Clay 12-hour Highlighter joining the family to add a peachy-pearlescent shimmer. And then, the Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paints in five brown-tone nudes – definitely shades worth investing in, because take it from us: brown lips sure are making a comeback.
$32 to $37, available from 21 Jul.
Too Faced Melted Matte Liquified Matte Lipstick
These liquid matte lipsticks just keep coming, don’t they. Of course we’re not complaining in the least, especially when it’s Too Faced getting in on the liquid matte game as well, because now their amazing Melted lipsticks are being made into a rich, matte finish in a traditional doe-foot applicator form, which makes application a bit easier. Shades we’re zooming in straight on: Cool Girl, a cool brown-nude, and Queen B, a mauve.
$33, launch date TBC.
NYX Lip Lingerie Liquid Lipstick
We’re not sure why brands have been favouring the idea of branding nude lipsticks as underwear for the lips, but we hope they keep them coming. NYX is more than familiar with liquid lipsticks already, but we still think these will sell like hotcakes – just because all the nude shades are so damn pretty.
$19, available from Sep.
IT Cosmetics Your Lips But Better All-Day Waterproof Lip Liner Stain
With a name like “Your Lips But Better”, you know this will be handy in creating nicely natural colour. The six shades are mostly nude-themed as well, and can be used to keep your nude lip colour in place and smudge-free for hours, or if not, to fill in your lips completely for a barely-there stain.
$34, available from Sep.
