Having been around for almost a century, Tanjong Pagar Railway Station undoubtedly holds a special place in many people’s hearts.
After all, it was built way before the Causeway and the MRT even began construction. Unfortunately, there won’t be many more opportunities for people to visit this historic place in the near future, with a major renovation slated to commence at the end of 2016.
Thankfully, the good folks from Fleaware aren’t having any of that. Come 12 September, the flea organisers will hold the “Fantastic Thai Market” at the beloved heritage site, where visitors can look forward to yummy food and cool merchandise from over 100 vendors, some of which will be “Thai-themed”.
In addition, food trucks Kerbside Gourmet and Kombi Rocks will also make special appearances at the event, while there’ll also be awesome live music in the form of bands.
So whether you’re heading down to revel in nostalgia or to experience a slice of the past, there’s no denying that a fun-filled shindig like this is a pretty rad way to celebrate the history of the place, especially before it becomes Cantonment MRT station in 2025.
We just hope that there’ll be at least a few more similar events before the area closes up for the next decade.
The Fantastic Thai Market is happening on 12 September from 10am to 6pm, and will be held at Tanjong Pagar Railway Station.
