London holds many special memories for me. My last trip to the city was three years ago when I met Shingai Shoniwa from The Noisettes and we photographed her for our Jun/Jul 2013 cover. I also caught the extraordinary “David Bowie Is” exhibition, which was impossible to get tickets to; I only found out about it when I reached London and tickets were completely sold out. But I was also staying at The Savoy, one of London’s historical hotels; and the concierge (whom I suspect are magicians), knew someone who knew someone with a VVIPĀ pass to the V&A (where the exhibition was taking place), and they secured me a pair of Bowie tickets during my stay there. Now I’m back in London for the launch of Chanel’s Fall/Winter makeup collection, and the one place I really wanted to return to was The Savoy – for its unrivalled hospitality, and also for its excellent location in the heart of London’s shopping and theatre district.
