If this doesn’t make President Barack Obama the coolest politician of all time, we’re not sure what will. The United States Commander-in-Chief made an appearance at the South by Southwest (SXSW) Festival in Texas earlier this year, and apparently he got inspired, because the White House has just revealed that they’ll be holding their very own music and arts festival on 3 October.
Organised in conjunction with SXSW, the American Film Institute and President Obama’s Committee on Arts and Humanities, the one-day festival will be titled “South by South Lawn”, and will feature music performances, films, and panel discussions.
There’s no word as to who’s going to be in the festival line-up yet, but you can get a pretty good idea of the President’s favourite music via this tweet:
Been waiting to drop this: summer playlist, the encore. What’s everybody listening to? pic.twitter.com/mqh1YVrycj

Whether we’ll get to see Jay Z or Alicia Keys rip up the stage at the White House remains to be seen. But one thing’s for sure – there will be a strong emphasis on encouraging young talent at the event. For instance, the film segment of the program will comprise of short films from K-12 students, while panel discussions will focus on innovation and technology.
Want to nominate yourself to attend this festival? Visit this link before 10 September, and you might just get to enjoy an evening of festivities at the White House!
