Alexander Wang's SS17 Collection Reveals Long-Awaited Surprise

Nobody takes us from zero to hundred as gracefully as Alexander Wang does. Reconstructing our everyday basics into a chic ensemble of loungewear that’s bound to be on every “Instagram Girl”‘s hit list, the SS17 collection brings us a stylish chic update of the “pyjama look”. The show started out leisurely at a measure pace, presenting slouchy sleepwear looks like a cropped button-downed paired with striped pyjama shorts, and loose tanks. We are soon hit with a sultry wave of sexiness, without it being too over the top, as the designer started exploring loungewear-cum-workwear options and classy evening wear. We’re given a clever brief of Alexander Wang’s Californian roots with the evident remodelling of bikinis in many of his looks. The classic halter bikini tops are deconstructed with body-binding straps which were then paired with chic high-waisted trousers or bohemian babe wrap skirts. Spring’s not even here yet, but Wang definitely has got our adrenaline pumping with his neon scuba tracksuits and bright, racy silk lingerie worn beneath suits. And we’ve yet to address the real highlight of the show; Alexander Wang finally set his collaboration with Adidas in stone by a grand reveal in the finale. An army of the #WangSquad marched down the runway decked out in a preview of the 84-piece collection which features the familiar Originals logo turned upside down. Ah, fashion week just got way better.
