Guess who’s back ♪ ♫ Back again ♪ ♫ ♪ Gloss is back ♫ ♪ Tell a friend ♪ ♫ ♪
Gloss is definitely back, and this time, it’s not just limited to your lips. Recent runway shows have shown us cool, innovative and incredibly sexy ways to add some light to your life in the form of eye gloss. Eye gloss?
Yup, you read that correctly. Makeup artists Tom Pecheux and Mark Carrasquillo sent models down the runway sporting some seriously slicked, greasy eyes that tread a fine line between effortless and seductive. And if this trend eye look has the stamp of approval from these pro makeup artists, then you can bet that this cool-girl gloss will catch fire in the realm of beauty.
The glossy lids that were spotted at Altuzarra was one that Tom Pecheux called “the sweaty bitch.” Pardon his French, but he’s referring to the smokey and smudged out, effortless and chic eye makeup. He traced a layer of gel eyeliner around the rims of the eyes and smudged it out with a warm orange gloss. Most of the attention was drawn to the eyes, so he skipped the contouring and blush, dabbing a touch of lipstick to add a little more colour to the face. He even brought the look to N21, amping it up with irridescent blue and magenta eyeliner.
Mark Carrasquillo also created minimalistic glistening eyelids at the Creatures Of The Wind’s S/S ’17 show. Models wore lip gloss on their lips and the look was finished off with an ultra-matte red lip that was inspired by the ultimate ’90s indie musician PJ Harvey. Eye gloss is naturally a slicker version of your Vaseline-on-lids look that’s a little higher in terms of maintenance, but this gloss can take your regular eye makeup game to a whole new level. Bonus: it’s quick and easy too. So, go on and do a trial run with the lip gloss you probably already own.
