Planning. It’s the bane of every tourist. Plan too little and you might find yourself out of whack in a foreign land. Do the reverse, and your holiday might just end up becoming too rigid.
Trying to reach that perfect balance is Google Trips – a new mobile app helps you organise plane tickets and hotel reservations, as well as offers you vacation recommendations and tips based on your Google history. It’s basically your very own personalised tour guide.
“We wanted to reduce the hassle and help travelers enjoy their hard-earned vacations,” Stefan Frank, the app’s product manager, wrote on Google’s blog. “Google Trips can help you build your day around places you already know you want to visit,” he added.
Of course, if you’re uncomfortable with letting Google essentially track your every move, then this app isn’t for you. However, if you’re not too concerned about that, Google Trips has plenty of neat features that are really useful for saving time, and making the best out of your holiday.
For example, the app contains comprehensive guides to more than 200 cities. Its features include reservations, things to do, saved places, day plans, food & drink, and getting around. You can read reviews by other users, while itineraries are churned out for you on the go.
Best of all, the app comes free-of-charge, and you can pre-download all its data beforehand to save yourself from a hefty mobile fee by using the app offline.
The only requirement needed to use Trips? You’ve got to own a Google account.
Google Trips is now available for download on both Android and iOS.
