This One-of-a-Kind Pokémon Watch Costs a Quarter of a Million Dollars

We here at NYLON like to think of ourselves as pretty big Pokémon fans (some of us still spend a good part of our lunch hour playing Pokémon GO), but we’re not sure if we’d be willing to pay a quarter of a million dollars for a Pokémon-themed watch. Yup, after making headlines last year with a US$20,000 Pikachu watch, Swiss luxury watch brand RJ-Romain Jerome is back at it again with yet another timepiece centered around everyone’s favourite pocket monsters, and this one comes with an unbelievable US$258,000 price tag.

To be fair, the watch does look pretty sweet, and we’d probably consider buying one if it didn’t cost…y’know, the down payment for a four room flat. The 48mm case and alligator strap are both decked in an always-stylish matte black, with the latter rocking some contrasting yellow and blue stitching as a subtle homage to the iconic Pokémon logo. The star of the show, of course, is the Pokémon-filled watch face, which features a slew of fan favourites that include Charmander, Eevee and Magikarp, to name a few (unsurprisingly, Pikachu gets to stand right in the centre). Throw in a lightning bolt-shaped Tourbillon into the mix, and you have a watch that’s as nostalgic as it is expensive.

It’s said that there’s only one “Tourbillon Pokémon” watch in existence, so owning this highly limited edition piece will definitely establish you as one of the biggest — if not *the* biggest — Pokémon fans in the world. We can think of literally hundreds of other ways to spend a quarter of a million bucks, however, so unless you’ve struck the lottery or something (and even then spending all your money on a single watch sounds like a bad idea), you’re probably better off showing your love for the franchise by replaying Pokémon Red again.
