Adidas Gives The Stan Smith The "Camo" Treatment

It goes without saying that the Stan Smith will always be best known for its clean, minimalist aesthetic, but Adidas has also been recently experimenting with more unconventional designs to ensure that the silhouette stays fresh and relevant in the ever-changing sneaker game. After draping the shoe in a paddle pop-esque colourway and giving it an embroidery-covered “Summer” makeover, the brand with the three stripes is now aiming for a streetwear aesthetic with its latest “Camo” iteration, and if the massive hype surrounding last year’s camo-covered BAPE x Adidas NMD was any indication, these are going to be a pretty big deal.

Much like the “Summer” before it, the Stan Smith’s leather upper has been replaced with canvas for a more casual feel, and is draped in a dark green camo print that adds a welcome layer of attitude to the traditionally inconspicuous silhouette. The heel tab, on the other hand, rocks a white crocodile textured leather for a nice bit of contrast, and considering how graphic-heavy the top half is it makes sense that the sole remains white to even things out. Camo isn’t exactly the most versatile of looks, but if you’re looking for a statement piece that doesn’t go overboard, these kicks definitely fit the bill.

The adidas Originals Stan Smith “Camo” is available right now, and can be bought online at select Adidas stockists such as Feature for a surprisingly affordable US$85. We personally don’t think that the Stan Smith will ever go out of style, but if Adidas wants to keep releasing more wishlist-worthy versions of one our favourite silhouettes, we’re not going to complain.
