Cosplay is just one of the many brilliant things to come out of Japan. It’s nice to look at and it lets you escape into a reality that otherwise doesn’t exist. Thing is, it’s not easy to pull a look off. Costume design is more often than not expensive and extremely time-consuming to build (at least for hardcore cosplayers who don’t believe in buying costumes).
But what if you want to look like your favourite character minus all the effort, money, and dedication? Well, LowCostCosplay ain’t the only way to get things done.
Introducing a range of T-shirts by Japanese company Shalemon that lets you transform into your favourite character in the most no-brainer way possible – you lift the shirt over your head, and voila, you become the character via a printed face on the inside of the shirt.
Prints include popular characters like “No Face” from Studio Ghibli’s Spirited Away, Ryuk from Death Note, Slime, Evangelion, and even a simple Spider-Man mask. At the front of each tee, there are printed Japanese words with ironic meanings. For instance, the words at the front of the No Face tee say “Yes Face”. Yeah, you get the picture.
Whatever the case may be; these t-shirts are a great way to cosplay without actually having to really cosplay. Currently, all the designs in this funky collection are going for 2,808 yen ($35) each and can be bought from either Shalemon’s store, Amazon Japan, or Rakuten.
