Jared Leto belongs to that rare breed of human beings that make you go: “what, he’s that old?” Yep, that’s right. The Academy-award winning actor turns 46 in December this year, but it seems as if the universe itself wants to keep his good looks intact. Time just doesn’t seem to the affect the man.
So it wasn’t really any surprise when Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele roped him in to be the face of the company’s new fragrance, the Gucci Guilty Absolute.
After all, the brand new perfume marks the continuation of Gucci’s ‘A New Dawn’ campaign (which Leto was involved in as well), kick-starting the company’s push to celebrate modern men who don’t conform to gender stereotypes.
But it’s obviously not just his dashing good looks that landed the guy the gig. One look at him, and you’d know he is the definition of the modern man. In Gucci’s dictionary, that means traditional gender stereotypes are thrown out the window. Masculinity becomes feminine, and yet sexy at the same time.
Nothing exudes that better than the Gucci Guilty Absolute. Equipped with the time-honoured skills of maître parfumeur Alberto Morillas, the new fragrance gives off a sensuous woody scent that teases the senses without being too overwhelming. It’s a scent that you either love or hate, and that’s what Gucci is bravely going for.
Still, nothing is overdone here. The perfume retains a sense of male traditionalism – leather is the key ingredient, while the bottle is inspired by a hip flask and the box made out of cigar paper.
All of this makes it a perfect gift for the modern gentleman, which can be anyone from your brother to your husband. But we say dad deserves it the most, because really, he is the ultimate gentleman, right? And Father’s Day is coming up on Sunday after all, so do yourself a favour and don’t end up as the guilty party.
