Pat McGrath's Upcoming Matte Lipsticks Are Our Current Must-Haves

Whenever Pat McGrath launches a new collection, we’re pretty sure it becomes the number one item to buy on every fan’s MUST-BUY list. If not, can you really call yourself a true makeup junkie? Proclaimed by Vogue’s Anna Wintour as the most influential makeup artist in the world, McGrath has dropped cult product launches spontaneously and in very limited quantities at that. It’s no different this time. Unveiling the latest LUST: Matte Trance lipstick collection on Instagram, these covetable bullets are available to purchase on 14 July 2017 and are limited editions as well.
Compared to her previous glitter lip kit, Lust 004, which is the ultimate lip kit out there by the way, and her intergalactic smokey eye kit, Dark Star 006, the new matte lipsticks are definitely more wearable. But that’s not to say it’s nothing out of the ordinary. The makeup maestro said in a press event that the matte will not feel like concrete, possibly hinting at the drying formulas currently on the market.
She adds on: “Most lipsticks, even mattes, are a little greasy, but the Lust MatteTrance shades almost have a powdery finish; in fact, they feel and look like pure pigment, the payoff is incredible”, and you best believe it when it’s coming from the most sought-after MUA. This collection was also years in the making, to finally achieve just the perfect matte formula every beauty junkie will love. It was also revealed on her Instagram account that the LUST: Matte Trance made its debut at the finale of Prada’s Resort 2018 show.

The bullet lipsticks come in 9 down-to-earth shades in a gorgeous black-and-gold tube with a gold lip motif. The lipsticks are classified into three groups – The Batch: Skin Show, The Batch: Colour Blitz and The Batch: Vicious Venoms. The Skin Show is a threesome of terracotta-brownish nudes, the Colour Blitz are for those who love their bright reds and lastly the Vicious Venoms, a trio of sultry darks.
McGrath explains: “When you package them together, it allows you to mix the colours and create ombre and other special effects.” Three of the nine shades are especially special as they are named after her muses: ‘Omi’ – which is under the nudes selection, is named after Naomi Campbell, ‘Elson’ – part of the bright reds selection, is made for model Karen Elson and McMenamy – belonging to the dark shades, was specially created for 90s model icon Kristen McMenamy.
