Bella Hadid, The Unexpected New Face Of NARS

It’s a collaboration that caught us by surprise, yet one that makes perfect sense at the same time. After a few consecutive seasons of working with faces like Charlotte Gainsbourg, Daria Strokous and Tilda Swinton, ones that veer a little off the beauty campaign beaten track, so to speak – for Fall, François Nars has decided to go with the much more mainstream option of Bella Hadid.

An unexpected decision, as we never really expected Nars to pick a face that has already been plastered on the campaigns of several other major brands like Dior, DKNY and Fendi, and one that is one of the most famous in the realm of social media. Yet, as we reviewed this image of Hadid styled in a 70s rock-and-roll style, showing off the muted metallics of the new makeup collection, we realise Nars has actually gotten it very right.

And now, the colours themselves: as expected with a transition into Fall, they’ve become darker, most bearing a soft shimmer that evokes sultriness. It’s a rather compact collection this time round with just three Kohliners, two Dual-Intensity Eyeshadows, and one blush. The ones we’re already yearning for: the Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow in Titania, a metallic silver, the Kohliner in Sorrento, a rusty brown, and the Blissful Blush, a bold, shimmering raspberry.
