Bangkok’s First “Co-Living Space” Has Good Food, Art, and Plenty of Books

Bangkok is a city full of gems.
It’s the reason why we Singaporeans love heading there all the time, whether it’s to embark on a full-blown shopping spree or to just pig out on some really good food. Living there however is a completely different ballgame, no matter how much we love the place.
Good news though. You can now experience “living” with the locals on your next trip to Bangkok without booking an Airbnb or Couchsurfing thanks to luxury shopping mall Central Embassy, which recently opened Open House – the city’s first “co-living space”.

Located just below swanky “Beach in the Sky” restaurant and rooftop bar Siwilai City Club, Open House is basically a lifestyle and retail destination that’s meant for visitors to mingle or hang out, something like a co-working space, except this doesn’t involve any working at all.
Designed by Japanese architecture firm Klein Dytham Architecture, the space features a total of seven zones, ranging from dining to shopping.

For instance, the dining area comprises of some of Bangkok’s most hip restaurants and cafés, with niche specialties for all kinds of foodies. There’s Italian food from Peppina, Thai cuisine from Nara, vegan grub from Broccoli Revolution, Spanish fare from Rico, and artisanal pastries from Paris Mikki.

Once your tummy is filled, you can either chill at the bookshop with all its towering shelves or visit the Art Tower that changes exhibits on a regular basis. There’s also a working zone called Co-Thinking Space, plus a design shop and even a playground for kids.

So spending a day here (or two, if you’re not chased out by the security guards) won’t be a problem as there’s just so much to do. We only wish that Singapore has a similar concept, but ah well. We guess here’s another excuse to book those tickets to Bangkok once again.
