The market for Korean beauty is spilling with countless labels, each one clamouring to be the next It-brand within the industry. After being featured on Korea’s top beauty programme, Get it Beauty (it’s a pretty huge deal – just FYI), however, May Coop bumped itself up and earned its place in the relentless Korean beauty market. But what exactly makes this skincare line so unique?
For this humble brand, it all began with the sap of a maple tree. That’s right. The key ingredient in May Coop’s skincare line is in fact maple tree sap. What we often associate with maple is maple syrup, but unfortunately, there’ll be none of that sweet condiment here. What we’ll be looking at today is this natural liquid that’s loaded with nourishing and revitalising ingredients. Previously a beauty research and manufacturing company, May Coop’s founders discovered maple sap from a deep layer of soil located at Mount Jiri.
Apparently, the size of a sap molecule is similar and compatible to that of our body’s own moisture molecules, which is why it has a much quicker absorption rate, and it’s also why May Coop doesn’t need to add water to their concoctions. Using a special ingredient that’s rich in vitamins, amino acids, and a good amount of minerals doesn’t just make maple tree sap a perfect substitute for water, it’s also an amazing foundation for their entire product lineup.
In particular, May Coop’s star product, Raw Sauce, contains a high concentration of maple tree sap. Don’t worry, it’s not something used to top off your salad. This toner/essence formulation bears a pleasant floral fragrance that should be tolerable on sensitive skin, and what’s dispensed is a consistency that’s slightly more viscous than water, but it sinks into the skin within mere seconds without leaving any residue. The Raw Sauce combines the efficacy of maple tree sap with Fructan Powder (a.k.a. shallot root extract) to boost skin cells and revitalise dull, tired complexions.
