It’s been less than two weeks since the “Nasi Lemak” burger was launched by McDonald’s on 13 July, but guess what? The dish is now completely sold out island-wide, along with other menu items like the Chendol McFlurry and Bandung McFizz.
The fast food chain announced via a press release today (25 July 2017) thanking Singaporeans for their “overwhelming support” and that the locally inspired menu “far exceeded their wildest imagination.”
“We are both heartened and honoured to receive so many positive reviews from customers and food critics who have truly enjoyed our latest creations. And we will certainly consider suggestions to bring it back sometime in the future,” said Agatha Yap, Senior Director of Marketing, Menu and Digital Innovation, McDonald’s Singapore.
The release also included a preview of the next menu item that customers can expect – a “Made for Singapore” chicken burger called the EggCellent McSpicy. The new creation features a regular McSpicy chicken patty tucked under the same golden fried egg that was used in the Nasi Lemak burger.
Also, the Vanilla Cone will come in a special “camouflage” sleeve as part of Singapore’s 50 years of National Service (NS50). Past and present NS men will receive a free apple pie or hot fudge sundae with every Extra Value Meal purchased after breakfast hours from 4 to 10 August. Eligible customers must present their SAFRA Card, 11B or Pink IC for redemption.
Lastly, the Vanilla Cone will be going at a special price of 50-cents from 4 to 10 August. So, don’t be upset if you can’t get your Nasi Lemak burger fix anymore. There’s still plenty of reason for you to head to the nearest McDonald’s!
