Here's How To Make Sparkly Jewellery Work Outside Formal Events

So here you are being invited to a formal event or (yet another) wedding dinner — and yet, you don’t wanna spend on an expensive dress. These occasions are plenty but also not enough to justify you dropping a few thousand dollars for a garment. Be honest, somewhere in your wardrobe, you have at least three basic black dresses for these occasions. And how do you change up your look so people won’t be calling you out on your frequent re-wear? Easy! Accessories.
Statement jewellery does wonders in these situations, and when you think crystals and glittery jewellery, you probably have one brand in mind: Swarovski. The problem, in our opinion, is that sometimes the overly luxe and formal pieces don’t work as well without that LBD or flowy gown. However, while in Bangkok to cover the brand’s Fall/Winter collection, we’re led to think otherwise.

JOURDAN DUNN - DESIGN IN THE CITY (12)

RUBY ROSE - GAMING IN THE CITY (4)

Campaign stars Jourdan Dunn, Fei Fei Sun and Ruby Rose take on the Urban Fantasy collection easily in their everyday (though still glammed up) attire, which perfectly ties in to Swarovski’s design codes of modern, laidback glamour. We get jewellery inspired by geometric architecture, hints of digital tint and pixels, as well as quirky emoji pieces that are a fashionable take on our society.
Then, there’s the impressive Remix collection, featuring a series of versatile jewellery strands that you can join together to form a myriad of new pieces — whether it’s a multi-stand necklace, choker, double bracelet, or more. There’s a lot to be excited about, which bring us to this — how you can, just as effortlessly, style your favourite statement jewellery for your everyday attire too. Here are 4 different looks to inspire you:

classicday

Jewellery: Hillock Earrings, Hollow Pendant, Circle Strandage, Vittore Ring, Fisson Ring, Hero Earrings, Crystalline Pure Watch
Look: COS Satchel, Roland Mouret Asymmetric Satin Top, Chanel Rouge Coco Ultra Hydrating Lip Colour in Adrienne, Topshop Palazzo Trousers, Zara Satin Slingback Sandals
We’re totally keeping this to a daytime look, and here, we find the sleek circular shapes of the Hollow Pendant and Circle Strandage totally working against a wardrobe of soft, neutral shades. The pieces, whether it’s a pendant or earrings, are subtle, though work in sync due to those clean geometrical elements. Similarly, your outfit should be just as minimalist — this top is unfussy, though with an asymmetric hem for interest, and we’ve chosen jewellery in rose gold to complement the pink flared pants. Top if off with lips in a MLBB shade, and you’re ready to power through the day with ease.
edgy

Jewellery: Fit Choker, Hero Necklace, Halve Earrings, Remix Strands, Hilly Ring Set, Slake Bracelet, Crystaldust Bangle, Fit Bracelet
Look: Junya Watanabe Printed Denim and Faux Leather Jacket, Topshop Vinyl Leggings, Zara Ankle Boots, Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in l.u.v.
Ruby Rose was admittedly our inspiration for this look, and we see the silver Remix strands standing out when pieced together, then looped across the neck. Have on a choker as well, this time with black studded crystals for a more edgy vibe. Then, go loud with an arm party: a crystaldust bangle that glitters with an uneven rocky surface can be a main piece, while you add other jewellery around it. As for that ring over there? You can wear it as a two-toned ring, or open it up at the hinge to have them look like two separate ones. Pretty ingenious.
whimsical

Jewellery: Hearty Earrings, Hearty Pendant, Hippy Pendant, Heap Bracelet, Remix Strands, Hearty Necklace
Look: BECCA Cosmetics Light Chaser Highlighter in Opal, Topshop Floral Print Embroidered Midi Dress, Zara Embroidered Ankle Boots
Now then, it’s safe to say that we were particular drawn to the Hearty series of jewellery; whether it’s a necklace, or a pair of earrings, the feathery shapes, teardrop jewels and iridescent colour palettes immediately looks like a dreamy centrepiece for any outfit. You can let it stand out with a plain top, or play around with its multi-toned look by having lots of prints and texture on your outfit too. The embroidery trend works well for these whimsical pieces, and like the rest of the collection, layering your jewellery will make have you look like a daring dresser without you actually trying that hard.
quirky

Jewellery: Homeric Earcuffs, Humorist Pendants, Lovely Crystal Mini Watch, Remix Strands
Look: Topshop Eyelet Wrap Midi Skirt, Bimba Y Lola Top, Etude House Dear Darling Lip Tint in Watermelon Red
Bold colours and quirky prints define this look — hence the bright orange skirt and that top with the cutest graphic cars — so don’t be afraid to take great strides with your accessories as well. Colour clash away! The Homeric Earcuffs are an edgy piece to top the look, plus it doesn’t hurt that it comes in beautiful rich colours, while the Lovely Crystal Mini Watch has a little heart shape that we see matching with the emoji-inspired jewellery that Swarovski has come up with. It’s quite unexpected for the heritage brand, but hey, if they’re gonna embrace the present, we should too.
