Remember when the Dr. Martens gladiator-like sandals were the in thing to wear on your feet a few years back? Well, the gladiator trend might just be returning with Nike’s Air Huarache – in sandal form. Yeap, you read it right. The fan-favourite huarache sneakers that we are all familiar with is getting a casual transformation into a strappy futuristic-looking sandal.
With brands such as Under Armour, Puma and adidas coming up with sandals and slides, it makes sense for the swoosh brand to come up with something apart from those. So presenting to you, the Nike Air Huarache Gladiator:
For now, Nike has only released the side view of its latest creation, but to put it simply, the Air Huarache Gladiator is basically a deconstructed version of its predecessor. Although the silhouette is completely different, the basic qualities of what makes a Nike Huarache sneaker still remains intact. The instantly recognisable Huarache air-sole sets the base for the gladiator sandals, while the rubber cage at the lateral delivers the classic Huarache look. The ankles are bounded by elastic straps and comes with what seems like a shiny leather upper.
The first iteration of the Nike Air Huarache Gladiator debuts in a “Triple White” colourway, though we are expecting it to come in black as well. The sandals are available exclusively in women’s sizing, though prices are still yet to be revealed. But the idea of baring those toes and having an alternative to flip-flops sounds good to us already. Besides, all we want to do during the sweltering summertime is to air our feet and let it breathe a little.
