This Product Makes Your Foundation Peel Off & We're Pretty Baffled By Its Existence

We’re no strangers to peel-off makeup. Lip stains and brow tints we paint on and lift off are now a mainstay along beauty aisles, fulfilling our need for some practicality and infusing that with a bit of fun too. Well, there’s a new product joining that family, but it’s not exactly the same as others. You may have seen videos demonstrating this peel-off foundation, however, it’s more of a peel-off primer that’s meant to be applied on clean skin before foundation.

NOT4U

So what the hell does it do, and why do we even need something like that? A product of K-beauty, the NOT4U Real Skin Patch literally forms a barrier between your skin and makeup to protect your epidermis from bacteria-causing elements. Sounds like a novel idea and a real godsend for acne-prone complexions, right? Yeah, not quite. YouTuber Raye Boyce (ItsMyRayeRaye) gave the product a whirl in her YouTube series Buy? or Bye! and answered most of our questions regarding this strange beauty creation.

After spreading the gel-like product all over her face and letting it dry, she says that it feels more like a thin layer of peel-off mask. When she tried to brush on her foundation, though, that’s when things started to head South. The clear layer of Real Skin Patch began to peel off with every bit of blending Raye attempted, leaving her skin looking like a clumpy, patchy mess. Yep, not a good look. Even after switching to a makeup sponge for her third try, she conceded defeat, saying, “It’s not working. The application does not look good.”
Forget about bronzer and highlighter too, because the product won’t be taking anymore product. Instead of highlighting her cheekbones to create an ethereal glow, it highlighted the uneven, splotchy surface the Real Skin Patch created. Definitely not how we want our foundation to look. Also, we’re not exactly sure how its supposed to prevent our skin from developing blemishes, but the product doesn’t seem to be doing our pores a huge favour if it’s suffocating its top layer. Sadly, the NOT4U Real Skin Patch sounds much better in theory than in practice – it’s definitely not4us either.
