Transformers, robots in…well, you know the rest.
Disguise is how these alien bots roll, and the same goes for their toy versions, the latest of which comes as a power bank that can transform into a legit Optimus Prime figurine. Yes, Autobots fans; you won’t be disappointed. This thing actually works.
Created for Hasbro’s Hascon convention and fan event later in September, this robo gizmo looks like any other portable battery pack in its “normal” mode. 16 unfolding steps later, and voila, it becomes Optimus Prime – all ready to save your phone from a dead battery.
And in case you’re wondering, it’s pretty good at doing that too. The pack sports a massive 6,500 mAh battery that is powerful to change an iPhone 7 approximately three times in a row.
The only thing is that the pack can’t transform into Optimus Prime’s fire truck or semi-truck form, but hey, at least his sword glows when you plug a USB cable inside it. We’ll take that over a regular power bank any day.
Oh, and unless you’re a super huge Transformers fan, you probably won’t want to fly all the way to Providence, Rhode Island in the States for the Hascon convention, because that’s the only place where this super cool toy will be available.
If you’re in the area however or you’ve got a friend or two popping by to help you out, you can expect to cough up a sum of US$50. Even then, it’s going to be hard getting your hands on this thing, as it’ll only be sold in a limited supply.
Will it be worth it though? You bet.
