After Rihanna introduced her Fenty line of velvet creepers to the sneaker world, we knew the trend isn’t going to die down that easily. There is no denying that velvet just makes everything look a little more expensive. Sure, the material isn’t exactly the best to use for sneakers and it can get a little difficult to maintain and clean, but these obviously aren’t our main concerns. We are just simply thrilled that Superga is featuring the luxurious fabric in their upcoming collection, in collaboration with Florentine retailer, LUISAVIAROMA.
We love our basic, monochrome, fuss-free Supergas. But when it gets the velvet treatment, resting atop a raised platform sole, we can’t help but lust over them. They come in 4 different colourways, including black, forest green, mustard, and bordeaux. However, there’s nothing to worry about if velvet isn’t your thing; the collection also includes two canvas-made ones in either black or white. Each platform sneaker features gold-toned eyelets and matching laces to go with the upper, while LVR’s logo can be seen at where the Superga tag is usually found.
Previously, LUISAVIAROMA has worked with Dolce & Gabbana and Sergio Rossi, so you know Superga is in safe hands for this collaboration. Anyway, as proven by Rihanna, you can’t really go wrong with velvet and platform sneakers, can you? All that said, it’s never too early to start prepping for your Fall wardrobe, but act fast as they are limited edition!
