How To Wear Bold Colours In Unexpected Ways

Green, electric pink, blue and a dark red are colours that we usually would be extra cautious about putting on our faces, but these 4 beauty looks have made them suddenly very appealing indeed. Here’s to challenging ourselves to be a bit more adventurous this month.

GREEN
There are very many ways this shade could be worn badly indeed. We’d usually even hesitate to wear it as a manicure, but this look makes us want to take the leap. The key is to keep nails short and well-groomed before painting them in this shade, to keep them from looking like monster claws. And if you’re feeling particularly gutsy… we dare you to match your lashes to your nails.

ELECTRIC PINK
If you’re not one to usually go for a hot pink lip because it feels too overpowering, we’ve been there. We’d ease our way into this look by keeping the rest of the face free from too much colour – maybe just a subtle flush on the cheeks – and finishing by blotting on the colour, blending out the edges so they look slightly blurred. Definitely skip the lip liner here.

BLUE
Blue on the eyes is no game-changer by now, but how you can shake things up a bit by wearing the hue in daring blocks painted high up on the lids. Choose an eye colour in a glossy texture to really make a statement – just remember to keep brows subtle, so they don’t compete for attention.

RED
Nothing new about a red lip, so it’s about how you play with variations of red, and texture of the lip colour. Instead of a regular red, opt for a darker crimson as a base, then go over it with another layer of a glossy dark purple. Many bonus points if you dare to add some contrast on the eyes.
