Now, we’re quite used to the Swiss watch brand constantly churning out a whole load of fun with their prints and patterns, so it’s no surprise that they’re doing the same this Fall/Winter season — rather than sombre colours and moody pieces though, you can trust the thrill-seeking brand for designs that break the mould. Sure, most of them are made of plastic, but that’s the thing. The sturdy, flexible material is the perfect base for colourful and innovative designs, and that combined with Swiss precision watchmaking makes their watches way more covetable. Of course, there’s also the price tag and we’re glad that plenty of them don’t cost above $200. Go on, take a look at their latest offerings.
The Countryside range sees the obvious motifs of florals, but hey, they’re here to remind us urban dwellers of a little bit of nature too and we can’t say no to floral and animal designs that look this cute. The bits of innovation come in when you consider that the light blue floral strap’s actually slightly translucent, letting the light in in a way that looks pretty impressive on your wrist. At the launch, we also got a nice surprise when we looked closer at this black-and-white dotty design — instead of a mere series of Yayoi-like polka dots, they’ve upped the ant-e with the cutest ants camouflaged in between, if you don’t mind some insects on you that is.
For the Swissness collection, we’re seeing traditional motifs and things related to Switzerland all over the watches, interpreted in a playful way though — you’ll see mountains, chocolate, cheese and more related designs, along with that high-precision watchmaking inside of course. There’s even a textured strap on a timepiece with hiking boots on the dial, a furry material that looks even more rugged with red constrast stitching.
Both Time to Swatch and Color Studio have similar design philosophies — you get the classic Swatch watch design, rendered in various new shades. The former is a joyful ode to minimalism, very elegant and versatile looks that you’re free to pair with whatever wild style you like, while the latter is more bold in its designs, opting for bright colour block styles or contrasting colour combinations to achieve these eye-catching, energetic timepieces. We love the way coloured gears are used here — an innovation that’s harder than it looks as it requires tremendous technical skill — but they’re just casually passed off as new skeleton-style designs that are fun to wear.
If you’re looking for a more sophisticated piece though, try A Gala Night, which promises glitter, glamour and shine — you’ll see gold and silver designs too, as well as materials with a metallic sheen, and these come with more elegant watch faces too, making it something you can put on for formal events. After all, time’s a luxury isn’t it — and a watch that looks this good is really more than enough.
