We aren’t sure what to be more excited by – that Gentle Monster is finally opening their first ever Singapore store in less than a week, or that Lee Dong Wook will be in town to grace its opening night!
Just in case you can’t quite place where you saw Lee Dong Wook, he was the goblin’s sidekick in Goblin. The moody Grim Reaper stole our hearts earlier this April when he was in town to meet some fans. If you didn’t manage to catch him then, you can probably hang around ION Orchard this coming 26 September to hopefully get a glimpse of the Kpop actor.
But enough about Lee Dong Wook; the spotlight should be on Gentle Monster. The Korean eyewear brand has been seen on the runway and on countless celebrities all over world. Their stylish eyewear pushes boundaries with their experimental designs, and has yielded in some pretty high profile collaborations. Their latest one starring Tilda Swinton, is simply breathtaking.
We’ve had our eye on these glasses ever since Jun Ji-Hyun sported them in hit drama My Love From the Star. There are sunglasses, glasses and even tinted lenses for that additional street hype. Some of the designs might seem rather revolutionary, but might get you a couple of stares if you ever walked down the streets in them.

This one’s called Rocker Fish.
This ski-goggle-esque sunnies came out of collaboration with Hood By Air for the ultimate upscale hype.
And there’s this one.
From Miranda Kerr, Gigi Hadid to Aimee Song and Irene Kim, Gentle Monster is a regular contender on the celebrity circuit. Even BTS’ Jin and Jun Ji-Hyun were spotted in them! Okay, not all of them are as weird as the last one you just saw. Most of their normal collection consists of simple frames, with the more recognizable styles of wire-rimmed frames like below.

We love how the frames are suitable for pretty much any face, regardless of your skin tone, face shape, and even gender. Yes, both girls and guys look good in those specs.
Gentle Monster will be opening its first ever Singapore store on 26 September at ION Orchard, #01-13.
