LG Now Has a Phone That Repels Mosquitos

Since the beginning of time, mosquitos have been humankind’s worst enemy. And sadly, we’ve never really come up with a sure-fire way of beating them, even in this modern age. Thankfully, it seems that technology itself may be catching up very soon in the war against itchy bites thanks to LG.

The Korean electronics company has just unveiled the K7i, a brand new India-exclusive smartphone that’s equipped with an ultrasound mosquito repeller on its back, making it a must-have gadget if you’re a true blue mosquito magnet.

How it works is that the repeller emits ultrasonic waves inaudible to humans. These waves are meant to shoo away mosquitos. Whether this is actually effective remains to be seen, although LG does incorporate the same technology in other home appliances it manufactures, such as air conditioning units and TVs.
Other than that, this gadget is pretty average. It has a 5-inch HD display, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage. Quite a yawn fest really compared to high-end devices like the iPhone X, Galaxy Note 8, and Sony Xperia range.

Still, with its relatively cheap price of Rs. 7,990 (S$166), and mosquito fighting capabilities, there’s nothing much to complain about here. Let’s just hope that LG decides to introduce this gadget to the Singapore market as well. We could always use the extra help, even if it’s just from a mere mobile phone.
