With new smartphones and wireless earbuds that can translate up to 40 languages on the fly, Google is at the cutting edge of technology – there’s no doubt about that. And if you, like us, have been fawning over the tech giant’s latest product releases, feast your eyes on this: say hello to the brand new Google Pixelbook.
Launched last week, the Pixelbook has everything you would ask for in a notebook – namely, slick performance and great design. Not to mention, it’s also the thinnest and lightest laptop that Google has ever made – weighing in at just 1.1kg and measuring no thicker than 10.3mm. That’s as good as carrying around a feather!
Okay, fine. We exaggerate. But there’s no denying just how gorgeous this new gadget is. For one, it’s not just a laptop, but a tablet too, with its sweet 12.3-inch LCD touchscreen. Google calls this “4-in-1” design. You can use the Pixelbook as a laptop, tablet, with the keyboard folded underneath the screen, or propped up behind it.
And it gets even better. There’s a digital stylus called the Google Pixelbook Pen, which uses machine learning to make writing feel as normal as legit pen on paper action – to do that it has an incredible latency of 10 milliseconds, as well as 60 degrees of angular awareness and 2,000 levels of pressure sensitivity.
Plus, with Google being Google, there’s a built-in Google Assistant too. All in all, the Pixelbook is without a doubt a premium laptop, and is a far cry from the company’s previous unexciting Chromebook line. Heck, it may even give the Apple’s MacBook and Microsoft’s Surface Pro a run for their money, but we’ll have to wait to find out.
Currently, there are no details for local pricing and availability just yet, although the Google Pixelbook has a starting price of US$999 (with the Pixelbook Pen going for US$99) and is available in the U.S, Canada, and U.K from 31st onwards, with pre-orders open right now.
