First came news of the Nokia 3310’s arrival. Now come the numbers. From October 14, mobile phone users in Singapore can expect to snag the old school gadget for the price of $99. It will be available in two colours: Warm Red and Charcoal, as well as come with 3G.
HMD Global, the Finnish startup that owns Nokia’s branding rights, announced in a statement on Monday (October 9) that everyone’s favourite dumbphone has been improved to deliver an “enhanced, customisable experience”. This refers to the ability to change icon colours and position, pretty much like what an actual smartphone can do.
HMD Global announced that the phone would be available at Courts, Harvey Norman, Challenger, Gain City, Sprint Cass, Mustafa, Handphoneshop, 3Mobile, and selected A-Mobile authorised retailers – for those of you interested in enjoying a dose of nostalgia.
But while the Nokia 3310 is nowhere near the forefront of cutting edge technology, at least it does the job. Users can look forward to 6.5 hours of talk time, MP3 playback of up to 40 hours, and a 2-megapixel camera – features that are perfect for elderly folk, or for kids who aren’t responsible enough for a smartphone yet.
